Hometown Canal District

Hometown Canal District is located near the intersection of Bridge St. and Ice House Dr. in North Richland Hills, TX.

The developer wanted the channel that drained through the site to be transformed into something more aesthetically pleasing while still complying with the city’s engineering drainage standards.

We designed and modeled the transformation of approximately 1,000' of trapezoidal drainage channel into a series of ponds. The design constraints included no rise in water surface at the upstream property line, the developer’s desire for a pedestrian bridge to cross the stream and to create as many stepped ponds as possible with high normal pools to increase the aesthetic value.

We were able to accommodate all of these design constraints and still provide three (3) on-stream ponds with different normal pool elevations that created the "water fall" look that the developer liked.
