NRCS Reservoir Site 2B Dam Breach Analysis

The NRCS Lake Site No. 2B is located in McKinney, TX on Wilson Creek Tributary 11 north of U.S. Highway 380.

The lake has an approximately 9 acre water surface at normal pool elevation. We performed a dam breach analysis in conjunction with the adjacent Auburn Hills development. The dam breach parameters and hydrograph modeling were performed in HEC-HMS. The resulting flows were then input into HEC-RAS to model the hydraulics of the breach floodplain downstream of the dam. The analysis involved hydrologic modeling for an approximately 1 square mile watershed as well as hydraulic modeling of approximately 5,000' of stream.

The breach analysis was reviewed and accepted by The City of McKinney to be used as part of the design process for the adjacent grading of the Auburn Hills development.
